Overview

Self-reported by organization

The Northwest Youth Music Association's primary program offering is the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps, a “world class” competitive marching unit that tours about 12,000 miles over 10-weeks each summer. This group of high school and college-aged students are primarily from Washington, Oregon and Idaho, but also come from throughout the remaining United States. Auditions for the Seattle Cascades draw several hundred music students each year, and those students compete for a spot among the 150 total performance positions available in the brass, percussion and color guard categories. The Seattle Cascades frequently sponsor educational workshops in brass, percussion and color guard. Additionally, the Seattle Summer Music Games held each July brings some of the world’s finest marching groups to perform before an audience of thousands.
