What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Television
Founded in 1954 as an experiment in community-supported television, WQED was a forerunner to PBS. We operate WQED-TV (PBS); WQED World; WQED Create; WQED Showcase; WQED PBS KIDS Channel; plus various streams, apps, and interactive experiences.
Radio
Classical WQED-FM 89.3 is southwestern Pennsylvania's classical music station: an advocate and source for arts and culture news and information for the entire community. Our translator simulcasts in Johnstown on WQEJ-FM 89.7 to enrich that city's cultural community. The Pittsburgh Concert Channel on WQED-FM HD-2 and streaming online offers archived recordings of the Pitsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Education
The WQED Education Department has a history of service and innovation to local and national students, families, educators, and care providers.
