Friends
of the Global Fight Against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria works to educate,
engage and mobilize U.S. decision makers to support the Global Fund and the
fight to end the worldwide burden of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

- Since its founding in 2002, the Global Fund has
received progressively larger funding from the United States government, from
$200 million in initial funding in 2002 to $841 million in FY2008.

- Friends has liaised with U.S.-based partner
organizations to cultivate common goals and political consensus among groups
working in specific disease areas – such as AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria – as
well as specific issue areas – such as faith-based work.

- Friends has showcased the Global Fund’s work at high-profile
events including the opening of a world-class photographic exhibit in
Washington, D.C., and celebrity events around the country.

THE PROGRAM EDUCATES U.S. POLICYMAKERS AND DECISION MAKERS ON THE WORK OF THE GLOBAL FUND AND ITS SUCCESSES FIGHTING AIDS, TUBERCULOSIS, AND MALARIA. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, FRIENDS CREATED AND DISTRIBUTED OVER 24 PAPERS TO SEVERAL GLOBAL HEALTH NGOS AND CONGRESSIONAL OFFICES. THE ORGANIZATION ALSO HOSTED SEVERAL INFORMATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL BRIEFINGS ON GLOBAL HEALTH ISSUES AND THE ROLE THE GLOBAL FUND IS TAKING TO COMBAT HIV/AIDS, TUBERCULOSIS AND MALARIA AROUND THE WORLD.
