Program 1

Environmental Programs

In the area of Environment, CRUSA/Amigos strives to create a
comprehensive approach to conserving areas and ecosystems of biological
importance. To ensure the sustainable use of water resources and their
associated ecosystems, we have focused our efforts on the Tempisque
River Basin in Guanacaste, the Osa Peninsula, the Environmental Forum,
and the National Water Agenda, among others. The majority of
CRUSA/Amigos’ support in this area goes to projects in Osa that help
communities relying on environmentally destructive practices for their
livelihoods to identify sustainable alternative sources of income,
protecting biodiversity and conserving local ecosystems.
