Mission Statement

1. CHAP educates the public about HIV disease, its impact upon individuals and the community, and current treatments; 2. CHAP coordinates the efforts of existing public or private resources for persons living with HIV/AIDS; 3. CHAP works to discover unmet needs of persons with HIV/AIDS and their families; 4. CHAP stimulates and supports appropriate community responses to meet those needs.

CHAP has historically provided prevention education in the Central Virginia area and been active with HIV/AIDS awareness and testing events, whether a sole project or partnering with organizations such as Centra Health Hospital System, Central Virginia Community Services Board, HOPWA (Housing for AIDS), community health centers, community health fairs, the Lynchburg Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Central Virginia Health District.
