Program 1

Education begins in the classroom and continues in the community. The i-SAFE Education Initiative revolves around an age-appropriate K-12 curriculum that meets NETS Standards in all 50 states. The i-SAFE Professional Development Program trains and certifies both educators and law enforcement to teach students the i-SAFE curriculum. They will also be able to train and certify others to become i-SAFE teachers. The program, materials, and curriculum are provided free of charge. The i-SAFE curriculum is designed to foster active participation between students and their instructors through classroom discussions and group learning activities. Integral to each lesson in all grade levels is the incorporation of empowerment activities. These activities provide students the opportunity and the tools necessary to share their newfound knowledge with their peers, their family, their community, and beyond. This assures the student will retain the information and take ownership of the concept of safe and responsible use of the Internet. The i-SAFE Education Initiative is the only program to combine curriculum and outreach activities. The i-SAFE community outreach consists of extensive programs for youth, parents, and community leaders to raise awareness of Internet safety. The Youth Empowerment campaign works with students to spread the message of safe and responsible use of the Internet peer-to-peer. It is the most effective way to get the information to those most at risk. i-SAFE provides the material and the tools for Student Mentors across the country free of charge. Student Mentors are trained to give the i-SAFE Assembly Experience - a high-powered multi-media show. They are also trained to join the i-Adopt-A-School Program. This is where high school students teach middle school students, and middle school students teach elementary school students. The i-Parent Campaign is a nationwide movement by students, parents, educators, and public officials to raise awareness of Internet safety issues and advocate Internet safety education at home and in schools. The i-Parent Campaign Toolkit includes a video, PowerPoint® presentations, fact sheets and more - all the necessary tools to hold i-SAFE Parent Programs, which quickly educates parents and others about Internet safety, and motivates them to take action against the threats that exist online.

BIO

The founder of i-SAFE, Teri Schroeder, is a graduate from the University of San Diego and has a background in Law focusing on White Collar Crime Litigation. For more than twenty years she has been employed in upper management positions specializing in electronic publishing and online communications. For more than a decade Mrs. Schroeder has served on various Corporate Boards as a strategist working closely with the CEO and/or Strategy Team Leaders. Her work earned Mrs. Schroeder recognition by California Lawyer Magazine as "Entrepreneur of the Year," and she was also on the Executive Board for the Venture Capital Network of the Legal Vendor's Association. While Mrs. Schroeder was CEO of a content provider on America Online she realized her true calling, helping children. She started i-SAFE America because of the voice of one child lost in a chat room. Realizing there was a vast need for Internet safety education, Mrs. Schroeder gave up her lucrative career, started up a non-profit foundation, and dedicated herself to keeping children safe online. i-SAFE began as a small group of volunteers in a room in Mrs. Schroeder's house. It is now the leader in Internet safety education. This school year alone i-SAFE will educate more than half a million new students on Internet safety. It is the most trusted resource for safety tips and informational statistics on the web. Mrs. Schroeder's tireless efforts on Capitol Hill have made i-SAFE America the designated distributor of Internet safety education to the nation according to the U.S. Congress. Their curriculum, materials, and training are provided free of charge to schools and communities across the United States. i-SAFE is also the exclusive Internet safety educator of all Department of Defense schools located around the world. i-SAFE has been entrusted to keep the children of our military families safe, while they in turn keep America safe.
