How does this organization make a difference?

Overview

Self-reported by organization

The Association's peer-reviewed, indexed Journal of School Health published over 100 research and practice articles in the 12 issues of 2009.  Each issue included one article eligible for self-study continuing education credit hours.
The association conducted an annual conference with over 100 presentations on research and practice related to the health of school-aged children and youth.

Through a federal cooperative agreement, ASHA provided intensive assistance to three school districts and two state education agencies that enabled them to create stronger and more effective programs, policies, and services for supporting students' health and academic success.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Program 1

Ten times a year, rhe American School Health Association produces the Journal of School Health, which is peer-reviewed and indexed. ASHA's annual conference offers over 100 professional sessions and exhibits of resources that might help school health professionals do their jobs. ASHA produces and distributes other materials for school health professionals and offers continuing education credits. We provide technical assistance to those interested in improving how schools support the health, well-being, and safety of students and staff. Through resolutions, ASHA takes official positions on school health issues and uses those for advocacy on behalf of students.
