Mission Statement

As Indiana entered the 21st century, a group of technology entrepreneurs had a common vision. They knew many Hoosiers lacked the knowledge or opportunity to develop the skills necessary for success in Indiana's growing information economy. They believed Indiana's technology sector must provide leadership and resources to eliminate this digital divide, making 21st century skills available to everyone. These technology entrepreneurs shared their vision with other community leaders, and in 2001 they founded today's TechPoint Foundation. The Techpoint Foundation does four things: 1. We provide information on the importance of 21st century skills, and on effective programs that make a difference for Indiana?s children. 2. We provide programs to develop volunteer and financial support for initiatives that enable every child to develop 21st century skills. 3. We provide funding to encourage new public support for initiatives that build technology literacy and 21st century skills. 4. We provide leadership by encouraging and recognizing community leaders that enable Indiana's children to achieve success through increased knowledge, skills and productivity. The Techpoint Foundation is an intermediary organization. We exist to build community support for the vital work that Indiana's schools and nonprofits must do to develop 21st century skills in our children.

Program 1

Since 2002, TechPoint Foundation has granted funds to Indiana schools and nonprofit programs that build information and communications technology (ICT) literacy. In 2005, we established the TechPoint Partners for Youth matching grant program to encourage technology community investment and volunteerism. Through these programs, a dozen community programs received volunteer and in-kind support and over $300,000 in grant funding. In 2006, TechPoint Foundation established a partnership with Indianapolis Public Schools to bring a nationally-recognized 21st Century curriculum to at-risk urban youth. In August 2007, New Tech High @ Arsenal Tech opened its doors to the first-year class of over 100 students. This small school program provides rigorous project-based learning in a one-to-one computing environment to any IPS student. New Tech High will add a class each year until reaching its capacity of 400 students in 2010-11. In support of New Tech High @ Arsenal Tech, TechPoint Foundation will invest over $300,000 in the school's curriculum and technology by the end of 2008. In 2008, TechPoint Foundation added a staff person dedicated to developing community volunteer and financial support for New Tech High @ Arsenal Tech. TechPoint Foundation also provides staff and in-kind support for Indiana's growing network of New Tech High Schools.
