How does this organization make a difference?

Overview

Self-reported by organization

Last year we secured a wonderful site for the memorial, Oklahoma City, OK.  We also perfected the special black stainless steel tributes that will be used to honor each warrior.  This year we are working on promoting this project to the general public.  In addition, we are developing several major fundraisers, one of which we hope to launch by October 2009.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Program 1

Custom Motorcycle Build

This is a custom motorcycle build by Special Operations soldiers in Fayetteville, NC.  The objective is to construct a precision replica of a 1942 military Harley-Davidson WLA and take it on tour throughout the US.  After the tour's completion, the bike will be auctioned to raise funds for the memorial.

The primary objective is to raise public awareness about the memorial through a very popular medium in today's culture.  We anticipate appearances on national television.

STATEMENT FROM THE Principal Officer

"Prior to going forward with this project, we conducted research through questionnaires.  The objective was to determine the probable percentage of public support for this memorial.  We decided from the start that we did not want to have a large board of directors because this is project, in essence, is not  overly complicated.

If the potential public support percentage was high, we could avoid forming a large board, which is primarily organized to secure funding.  Our research produced a 92% overall positive response.  If that figure was even close to actual support, we could anticipate the public funding this memorial.  So we kept the board small.

To date we have not made an active effort to solicit funds because of the preliminary work that needed to be accomplished.  We have worked for over five years with no support.  Now we are in the process of implementing a plan to promote this project along with three major fundraisers, the first of which we hope to launch in October 2009."
