The Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI), the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere, is home to more than 35,000 artifacts and more than 400,000 square feet of hands-on experiences designed to spark scientific inquiry and creativity. Since opening our doors in 1933, we've welcomed more than 180 million guests from around the world.

In addition to our fun and interactive exhibits, the Museum's Center for the Advancement of Science Education (CASE) is continually developing and facilitating science teacher education courses, youth development programs, student Learning Labs, after-school science clubs and engaging guest experiences—all ways in which MSI makes science come alive for children and adults of all ages.

BIO

David R. Mosena is the sixth President and CEO and the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago (MSI) one of the largest, most popular and well-known science museums in the world. Mosena has been at the helm of MSI since 1997. Since his tenure, the Museum's groundbreaking new exhibitions have won international acclaim, and its annual programs have provided life-changing educational and growth experiences to thousands of high-needs youth. Development courses provided to science teachers are changing how science is taught in the classroom and improving student achievement.
In addition to his work at MSI, Mosena currently serves on the Board of the Association of Science Technology Centers in Washington, D.C. and the Discovery Park Advisory Council at Purdue University. Active in Chicago's civic and business community, he served as Chairman of the Interim Board of the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (which owns and operates McCormick Place and Navy Pier), co-chaired the Transition Committee for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, is a member of the Illinois Institute of Technology's College of Science and Letters Board of Overseers, and is a former member of the Metropolis Strategies Board.
Prior to his position at MSI, Mosena served in a number of leadership posts in the City of Chicago, including president of the Chicago Transit Authority, Commissioner of Aviation and Chief of Staff for former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.
