Mission Statement

The mission of National PTA is threefold:

To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.

To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.

To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

National PTA's Programs

Education Programs:
The National PTA deals with a variety of education issues and develops current information, programs, and projects encouraging parents to participate in their children's education.

Working in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education and other educational coalitions and organizations, the education department focuses on parent involvement initiatives and education issues affecting children and families.

Building Successful Partnerships:
Building Successful Partnerships is a national, multifaceted parent involvement initiative focused on increasing awareness and implementation of the National Standards for Parent /Family Involvement Programs.

Arts in Education Programs:
The National PTA supports the arts as part of a basic education and offers programs that reflect this effort. National PTA works with state PTAs to manage the Reflections program which recognizes more than 600,000 students annually for achievement in the arts.

Health and Safety Programs:
The National PTA works closely with other national health agencies and organizations to provide comprehensive health and safety projects and materials for local and state PTAs. National PTA focuses on such health and safety issues as: childhood obesity; physical fitness and nutrition; media literacy skills and cyber safety issues; school safety and security; teen drug and alcohol use prevention; and more.

Leadership and Membership Programs:
National PTA supports the efforts of PTA volunteers and leaders by providing training and leadership resources.

Awards Programs:
The National PTA conducts various recognition and award programs to encourage and strengthen member activity.

Mr. Nathan R. Monell, CAE

BIO

For 26 years, Nathan Monell has provided strategic leadership to organizations in the areas of: youth and adult mental health services; educational and employment outcomes; health and substance abuse prevention service, and housing and social services for families

Nathan is a Certified Association Executive with the American Society of Association Executive (ASAE). He earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University, a Master of Arts in communication studies (organizational communications/behavior) from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Arts in speech from Cornerstone University.

He is a proud PTA dad of his two adopted children, Kira, 10, and Zalo, 12.
