Mission Statement

Provide funds for Geneva Illinois public schools and students.

Geneva Academic Foundation (GAF) strives to provide students at all grade levels new experiences, ideas, and challenges by funding grants for technology, services, programs and equipment for teachers. The grants are based upon teacher requests for their classrooms. These supplemental educational resources provide benefits to students at each school in Geneva.



The Geneva Academic Foundation is an independent, 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization led by a volunteer board. We are dedicated to enriching the educational experience of our children through the advancement of relationships, partnerships, membership and stewardship. We seek sources of private funding to support this mission.

Each year we grant funds to the teachers to buy the materials for the classroom. Our history is rich in service to the community through events we hold and the funding raised.
For the second year in a row, Niche has ranked Geneva School District as the 12th Best School District in Illinois. Nationwide, Geneva 304 is ranked 361st of 8,738 school districts, placing it in the top 5% of school districts in the country. Geneva has 5,958 students attending 10 schools in grades PK and K-12. According to state standards, 93% of students in the district are considered proficient in math and/or reading.

    1. Classroom our Core Mission of funding Teacher Grants and Classroom grants that Enrich the Student Experience.
    The common Vision of all members of Geneva School District 304 is to assist every student to become:
    • Self-directed, lifelong learners
    • Effective communicators
    • Complex, creative, and adaptive thinkers
    • Collaborative workers/citizens
    Grants across all classroom studies including: Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Speaking, World Language, Math, Science, Technology, Engineering, Social Studies, History, Business in addition to others.

    2. College and Career Readiness, Prepare for a life after high school whether the choice is to attend college, enter the workforce or obtain career technical training.
    • Annual Scholarships to graduating GHS Seniors
    • Next Gen Technical Training, Vocational school, Fox Valley Career Center
    Examples: Annual scholarships are given to two graduating Geneva High School seniors ($1000 ea. Scholarship), funding for much of the equipment in GTV television studio –for students pursuing careers in broadcasting.
    3. Cultural Arts Support the Next Generation of students in Visual and Performing Arts
    • Art, Music, Theater, Clubs
    Examples: DECA iPads for tradeshows, SmartPens and MAC computers for GHS art classes, funding for French Language singer/performer for the students taking class.
    4. Community Support a strong stable family, support for all students in school
    • Student services, early education intervention, counselors, family engagement
    • Focused through mentoring, tutoring, tracking, guidance and support services

    Examples: Multiple grants for various PE classes including heart rate monitors and a physical challenge game for Geneva's Middle Schools and Elementary Schools.

    The GAF Strategies for 2016 will support the next generation of the foundation:

  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
    We have a strong Board and are well connected in the community. we have meetings with the district to align and build on success each year. Our dedicated donors help with all our events.
    The assets build for the endowment currently are strong and place us in the top 25 for schools under city population of 25,000. We are thought of well in the community and our reputation is long lasting back to 1987.

    We are going to scorecard our objectives under the strategies and build the metrics each year.

  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
    Over 2015, we have had a few fundraising events and been able to give over $25,000 in grants to the schools teachers. We have established the goals and strategies for the next few years and are on target to reach Endowment goals with more businesses joining this past year.

    Our Board has grown this year by over 9 volunteers. Our Website is redesigned and offers better communication to the community.

    We are still developing fundraising techniques and have not gained as many dollars in 2015 as in the past. Dates of events seem to be the main issue with so many fundraisers in town. We are creating an annual calendar to help solve the issues.
