Mission Statement

The preservation and perpetuation of traditional Folklife Arts including Folk Music, Folk Dance, Storytelling and the associated Folklore. This is done through 100 annual music, dance & storytelling events that all invite and encourage participation.

We annually present: Over a dozen concerts and special programs (1000 benefit). Weekly informal, participatory Folk Music gatherings (1200 benefit). 16 Old-Time Community Barn Dances with live music and callers that teach all trad square & contr dances (700 benefit) Monthly Stortelling Guild meetings (350 benefit) Annual Fox Valley Folk Music & Storytelling Festival (Illinois' Largest - 9000 benefit)

Fox Valley Folk Music & Storytelling Festival

Illinois' largest Folk Festival founded in 1977 and featuring 30 Nationally recognized Folk Musicians & Storytellers with concerts and workshops on 8 stages for two days.  The focus of the Festival is traditional and roots based Folk Music, Folk Dance & Storytelling on a beautiful 13 acre Island in the Fox River in Suburban Chicago.  The Festival is a community roots event that is produced and run by 150 volunteers with donations & assistance from about 75 businesses and organizations across the US.  The performers are the only paid staff and the admission is largely free will donations.
