Mission Statement

Quincy University Mission Statement Quincy University stands as a Catholic, independent, liberal arts institution of higher learning in the Franciscan tradition. Inspired by the spirit of Francis and Clare of Assisi, we respect each person as a sister or brother with dignity, value, and worth. We work for justice, peace and the integrity of creation. We prepare men and women for leadership and for the transformation of the world by educating them to seek knowledge that leads to wisdom. We welcome and invite all to share our spirit and life. Quincy University Objectives Quincy University, founded by Franciscans in 1860, is an independent, coeducational, primarily undergraduate institution rooted in the Catholic tradition. It offers degree, professional, and continuing education programs based on the liberal arts and humanities. Through a blending of liberal arts and professional education, the University provides programs and courses of study rich in cultural experiences and strong in assuring the means of living humanly, reflectively, and productively in a technological world. The fundamental qualities of Christian humanistic studies - insight, sensitivity, understanding, discipline, moral value, and refinement of mind and heart - characterize education at Quincy University. The Franciscan orientation of the University affirms the worth of each individual, the expression of respect for others through service, and the ultimate spiritual destiny of every person. Personal, spiritual, and ethical integrity are no less essential than intellectual and scholarly attainments. The faculty of Quincy University strive for effective teaching, close student relationships, and creative achievements.
