What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Program 1

1)Free Education Program Access through LinkEducation.org As LinkEducation continues to grow, so does our website. LinkEducation.org currently allows users to find programs through key word search, zip code or borough search, or a category search. Additionally, programs operating within specific schools are listed on the appropriate NYC school profile on LinkEducation.org. With the increasing number of visitors to our website, LinkEducation.org is working to expand with the following technological features in order to reach and serve more members of the NYC community: 1) Add a blog where students, parents and educators can be updated on education news and tips; 2) Partner with other organizations to enhance school information and add school reviews for parents/educators; and 3) Add a discussion forum for special interest topics. 2) Special Interest Areas LinkEducation.org sends out monthly tips to educators, parents, and organizations on a variety of topics (Technology at Home and in the Classroom, Homework Services in NYC, Great Summer Programs for Your Child, etc). These areas of interest are all housed on the website and grow with time. Additionally, over the next year LinkEducation.org will enhance each special interest area by developing focused FAQs because many of our users have expressed the need for quick answers to specific questions within an area of interest. Each Special Interest Area will also have access to a discussion forum for community members to share best practices on the subject. 3) After School Course: ?Be the Link in Your Community? This program is directed towards high school students as a semester long program. High school students in low-income areas will be able to find education opportunities near them through a course on asset mapping. The course teaches them fundamental research, data assessment, and presentation skills. 4) Education Expo LinkEducation holds two education expos each year to bring together the many education resources for parents/educators to ?shop? in person at a central venue. The first education expo was held in September, 2008 with the Department of Education?s Office for Family Engagement and Advocacy. At the expo, families are encouraged to spend the day looking at exhibitor booths, learning about new enrichment, tutoring, or after school programs while watching performances by various groups. Pictures of the first education expo can be found here: www.linkeducation.org/education_expo_nyc_pictures.
