Mission Statement

Gay and Lesbian Youth Services is a nonprofit support, education, and advocacy organization for LGBT youth ages 13-18, and those dealing with issues of youth sexual orientation, including questioning teens and all youth-serving adults.

GLYS has been supporting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth of Southeastern Minnesota since 1992 in a confidential and nonjudgmental atmosphere that allows them to be themselves. The youth come from Lanesboro, Spring Valley, Zumbrota, Lake City, Plainview, Saint Charles, Winona, Cannon Falls, Stewartville as well as Rochester.

GLYS has been supporting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth of Southeastern Minnesota since 1992 in a confidential and nonjudgmental atmosphere that allows them to be themselves. Funding Needs

Gay and Lesbian Youth Services is funded through individual, group, and corporate donations and through grants from foundations. Funders who have supported GLYS include: Philanthrofund Foundation, The Rochester Area Foundation, and The Chicago Resource Center. Although GLYS is not a United Way of Olmsted County agency at this time, individuals may designate United Way contributions to be given to Gay and Lesbian Youth Services. GLYS has a brokerage account with an investment company and is able to accept gifts of stock and/or other securities. Gay and Lesbian Youth Services is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, registered with the state of Minnesota. Donations are tax-deductible.
