York City Dollars for Scholars initiated its scholarship assistance with the graduating class of 1997, William Penn High School, York, PA. Since that time, YCDFS has awarded 629 scholarships totaling $671,659.00 (through 2008).

 

In addition, YCDFS serves 20 high school students in an academic support and enrichment program, York City Scholars. Targeted students are economically disadvantaged and from non-college-educated parents. York City Scholars provides counseling, career exploration, support in college exploration and application, and related enrichment and support.

Annual Scholarship Awards

YCDFS solicits applications annually from graduating seniors at three eligible public high schools serving students residing in York, PA: William Penn High School ("York High"); York County School of Technology; and, York County High School. The YCDFS Awards Committee reviews applications, determines awards to be offered, and matches awardee's with sources of eligibility-criteria of individual scholarship funds to maximize use and distribution of funding resources.
