Notes from the Nonprofit

We would welcome a gift of any amount and of course, for a substantial contribution, we would consider a formal recognition of the gift by dedicating some aspect of the complex in your honor. I will be more than happy to meet with you should you wish to discuss the Mill further. On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff, we thank you for your thoughtful consideration of a potential gift. Lisa Steen Riggs, Director

Charting Impact

Self-reported by organization

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

  1. What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
It is our organization's goal to keep the 1848 Norre Snede, Denmark Windmill in good repair in Elk Horn, Iowa. This 168 year old Windmill stands proud to honor the areas rich Danish Heritage.
  2. What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We started a new appeal- " Put A New Spin On The Old Mill" . Trying to raise $200,000.00 to hire a Millwright, purchase 67 feet wooden Sail Stocks, reconstruct a wind shaft and to start a millers program.
  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
A small but mighty staff will do a letter and social media campaign to bring attention to getting the old Mill to turn again in the wind.
  4. How will they know if they are making progress?
By raising the necessary funds to get the Mill turning again.
  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
We are just starting this process. We have ordered the 67 foot Fir timbers from Washington state to get the project going. Fund raising letters are being sent out with hopes of raising the necessary funds in a timely manner.
