Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Mama Bakhita Program Expenses
$500 is sent monthly to the Mama Bakhita Center for Disabled Children fro program expenses such as transport of students to and from school, transport of children to hospitals in Lusaka for medical treatment, physical therapy, food for children's lunch, school supplies (books, paper, pencils).
Zambezi Doll Project
We have designed a soft doll for young children that can be made by hand for the mothers and grandmothers of the disabled children in the Mama Bakhita Center. The AACDP is developing a website to sell the dolls online. Two-thirds of the sale price is paid to the woman who made the doll and one-sixth goes into a communal bank account to buy supplies and one-sixth stays with the AACDP.
Educational Sponsorships
The AACDP is paying tuition for children and young adults related to the crafts
people and the Mama Bakhita Center. We are also posting biographies of the same on our blog site to search for potential sponsors for
the education of others known to us.
Emergency Grants
Funding for individuals or groups facing catastrophic losses, such as the family of Holliness Moomba losing half of her family when a drunken driver crashed into their small house. And when the small village of Jack Mwanapapa was flooded in 2010, we raised $1000 to replace farming equipment and supplies.
