Our Lady of the Rivers Shrine, Inc.

  • Portage des Sioux, MO

Mission Statement

On October 13, 1957, this statue designed by Norma McClory was dedicated before 10,000 people. It stands 45 feet tall above the river and reminds us of the tremendous forces of the floods for which it stands watch. The shrine has become a navigational aid on the Mississippi River and is the focal point of the Annual Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony (the largest inland boating parade). Now a tourist attraction where families can enjoy the incredible beauty and serenity so unique the area.
