Mission Statement

The purpose for which this Foundation was formed and the business or objects handled or promoted by it are to solicit donations and hold them for the procurement and installation of project at the Southern Arizona Veterans? Memorial Cemetery (SAVMC), that, due to monetary constraints and other considerations, cannot be procured directly by the Cemetery Administrator.

Historical Soldiers Memorial Cemetery project

This project is to builded a military historical likeness of a military cemetery for the interment of 61 soldiers that where recovered from an archelogical project in down town Tucson Arizona.  These soldiers are from the 1860-1880s.

Boy and Girl Scouts youth development projects

The SAVMC Founation funds several beautification projects for the scouts who doing projects inside the Veterans Cemetery.  Several of this projects are scouts earning their merit badges, Eagle Scout awards, Girl Scout Golden and Silver awards.  The scouts work on a variety of different projects within the cemetery.

Veterans Chapel Project

The Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Foundation is raising funds to build a Veterans' Chapel inside the Veteran's Cemetery. The Veterans Chapel will give families the option to hold a committal services either out side in the Committal Shelter or inside the Veterans Chapel.

  1. What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
    To support the State Veterans' Cemetery with special programs and annual ceremonies. Those special projects include; garden and plant enhancements, bench purchases, beautification projects for Boy and Girl Scout troops, special constructions of structures (Veterans Chapel, Historical Soldiers Memorial Cemetery, and Carillon Bell Tower). Purchase and fund raising for the annual Wreaths Across American ceremony.
  2. What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
    To provide a charitable method to contribute donations and funding toward special projects inside the Veterans Cemetery.
  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
    The SAVMC Foundation is a Veteran Organizational board operated organization. The board members are representatives of chartered VSO. The Foundation is supported by members and families of interred love ones. The South Eastern Arizona Contractors Association is a major contributor and manager of large projects.
  4. How will they know if they are making progress?
    Success is measured by the completions of each occurring and reoccurring projects.
  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
    The SAVMC Foundation has always completed tasks, and projects on time and within budget. The SAVMC Foundation does not have any over head or paid staffing cost.

The SAVMC Foundation will need to receive donations to continue to sponsor youth development scouting projects and other special memorial projects including:   Yearly purchase of "holiday wreaths" for veterans gravesites. Sponsor the annual Memory Day observance ceremonys. Support Scouting beautification projects inside the Veterans Cemetery.
