What we aim to solve
Increasing community engagement through measurable metrics. And additionally, improving the diversity of our board, staff, and programming. While our organization has women in leadership throughout the staff, the board and key volunteer positions, and while we continually highlight the artistry and work of members of our LGBTQ+ community, our board has only recently begun to reflect the minority and marginalized communities in our service area. Great progress was made at the start of 2022 with 5 of our 17 board members being people of color, and one board member who identifies as a member of the LGBTQ+ community.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We will be trying to build our membership to pre-pandemic levels (1,000 members) and continue to build the funds in our endowment trust. We currently have approximately 832 members and approximately $850,000 in invested trust funds.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
An inclusive and equity-based membership drive that consists of every single member of our two boards - Board of Directors and Endowment Trust Board - participating. We will make personal phone calls, visit businesses and call on those who have supported us in the past but have let their support lapse.
We will also be putting more effort into engaging new and diverse audiences. We have made it a priority to be known as *everybody's* history & culture center, not just the privileged few.
We will also continue to make use of a successful 2021 marketing plan in 2022 - one that accomplishes our three overarching goals; 1) building our constituencies, 2) deepening our relationships with our existing constituency, and 3) developing more funding to support our programs
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a sincere and dedicated board of directors who all realize we are underachieving and can do better. We have a dedicated staff of two full-time and five part-time employees who are game-planning these efforts side by side with the Board. We have enlisted friends in the media who want to help us with free advertising and networking.
We are going to capitalize on our outstanding art gallery, our educational outreach programs, and on the star power our annual gala honorees will bring to that event.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have introduced children's programming during the summer months in the way of free and publicly-available kid-friendly and interactive educational workshops.
The sponsorships for the annual gala have been increased in their numbers, and we have hired a professional event planner to work on our gala.
In 2020 and 2021 our total donation dollars were up despite the pandemic and having closed our museum for three months.
