BIO

Pastor Byron L. Craig is the first born of Donald and Earlene Craig. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and received his formal education in the Philadelphia School System. He accepted Christ on July 14, 1975 (a day he will never forget) and was baptized by the late Reverend William A. Lee at the Beulah Baptist Church. At Beulah he served as: Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Director of Young Adult Department; member of Baptist Training Union; Supervisor of Youth Ushers; President of Youth Choir; member of College Outreach Ministry; member of Street Evangelism and Teaching Ministry; and a member of the Male Chorus. In May of 1975, Pastor Craig was appointed as President of the Youth Department of the Pennsylvania Baptist Association by the late Moderator, Reverend Harrison J. Trapp and Sister Marjorie Haggler. In the three years he served as president, he was dedicated to improving the role of the youth on the agenda of the association. As a result of his perserverance, the role and the youth participation in the association increased significantly. He was later approached, in 1985, by the Reverend T. C. Killibrew, then Moderator, to again assume the position of president of the youth. He served as president also under the moderatorship of Reverend Rufus Sewell and was named to Executive Committee of the Eastern Keystone Baptist Association under Moderator Joseph Aikins. Pastor Craig graduated from Lincoln University in 1982 where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At Lincoln he was elected president of the Christian Organization, "Militants for Christ." Under his leadership, the organization grew from eight members to seventy-five members who were actively attending Bible class and prayer service twice a week. Upon recommendation of the University's Chaplain, he was elected President Emeritus of the Militants for Christ. He also received the Dr. J. Stevenson Memorial Award for academic excellence in Biblical Studies, was a member of the John Dickey Society and a member of the Religious Activities Committee. He also graduated from the Philadelphia College of the Bible where he received high honors and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. In April, 1986, Pastor Craig was licensed to preach the gospel and ordained in July, 1988 by the Beulah Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Timothy E. Ruffin. In October of 1987, Pastor Craig was called to the Victory Baptist Church to assist Pastor William Cross, Jr. While at Victory he was Director of Christian Education; Director of Finance; Coordinator of the Administrative Staff; and taught the Adult Sunday School Class, Wednesday Night Bible Class and the Sunday School Teachers. On November 9, 1985 he married Miriam Dunstan. They have two daughters: Brittany Ann and Dominique Marie. On May 5, 1992, Pastor Craig was called to Macedonia Baptist Church where he has been the shepherd for the past ten years. Pastor Craig currently is the President of the Norristown Ministerium, Dean of the New Life Bible Institute Norristown Campus, Chairman of the Board of the New Life Christian Day Care Center, and Chairman of the Jeremiah Wellness Center.
