Mission Statement

Since 1994, the North Platte Public Schools Foundation's mission has been to provide excellence in education in the North Platte Public Schools. The NPPS Foundation grants funds that go beyond the regular school budget, so educators can provide extraordinary learning opportunities for children. Twice a year, the NPPSF awards REACH grant money to teachers for innovative school-based learning projects. In the ten years that the NPPSF has provided the grants, we've been able to fund over $97,000 in requests. Unfortunately, the need consistently remains about three times that amount. Private donations have allowed our organization to annually increase the amount we give away and enable us to say "yes" to more instructional programs to strengthen and enrich the public education curriculum. In addition, we also manage donor-directed funds that help specific projects within the school district. Lastly, we offer the ability to help donors award scholarships to North Platte High School graduates that meet their special qualifications. The North Platte Public Schools is caring for the light that sparks our children's love of learning and flames their future.

Program 1

The NPPSF's major function is improve NP education for our community. One program that helps us impact students is our REACH Educator Grants Program. We provide money to be used for innovative teaching projects. While this is geared toward students, the programs are created by teachers. We have been funding our local grants twice a year since 1998. Since then, we have increased our funding annually. As of February 2008, we have given away over $97,000 for learning programs. Unfortunately, in that same time-frame, we've had $260,000 requested. We are diligently working to be able to approve all of our grant applications. The North Platte Public Schools Foundation also manages over a dozen scholarships valued at $350,000. The donors specify the qualifications for the graduates to meet and we take care of the rest for as long as the scholarship is funded. North Platte High School graduates are given further opportunities to enhance their education because of our generous scholarship donors. We offer people with specific educational projects management and resources to help them with their endeavors. These donor-restricted funds can only be used for the purpose given by the donors. We manage over $60,000 in these types of funds. We also have an Endowment Fund. All memorial gifts are automatically placed in this fund. The principal remains untouched but the income earned on it assists our organization with our mission of providing exciting educational projects in the North Platte Public Schools. We are also pleased to serve our alumni. We assist with reunions and help NPHS grads stay linked to their school. In 2008 we were asked to take over the NPHS Distinguished Alumni Award Program.
