A Whole New World For The Minis
So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary is a non-profit 501(c)(3) animal welfare organization located in Hemet, CA that is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, nurturing and healing miniature horses with the ultimate goal of finding forever, loving homes for our minis. 100% of our donations go to the minis. We do not have any administrative costs. Everyone associated with our sanctuary is considered a volunteer. We have a board of directors consisting of seven members that meet quarterly.
We are a verified member of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Recognition by GFAS is the most prestigious award given to animal sanctuaries globally.
Our rescued horses usually require extensive care due to injuries or emaciation Therefore, with rescues arriving often, our costs of care are growing. Currently our cost for food alone has reached approximately $6,000 per month. Veterinary costs and farrier costs can be expensive and vary depending on the condition and needs of each horse. Our mini rescue is the largest in the U.S. and has become one of the first rescues contacted by the public when there is a horse in immediate need of a sanctuary.
We are very proud that we have found wonderful homes for miniature horses just in this year. We have many horses in our care, some that will be permanent residents of the sanctuary. We still have, at this moment, 42 horses waiting to be adopted or are still in the process of learning to trust people again and are several months away from adoption.
So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary is a place of refuge, a place of rest and a place to love.
Contact us today at 951-764-5707 to help these wonderful horses and help us fulfill the promise of a safe and loving forever home. 100% of all donations go to the minis.

Goals & Strategy
Learn about the organization's key goals, strategies, capabilities, and progress.
Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
So Cal Mini Horse Sanctuary, Inc. rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes neglected and abused miniature horses. We strive to provide safety, care and hope to miniature horses with the goal of finding them new, responsible, loving, life-long homes.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The Sanctuary is run on an entirely volunteer basis with no administrative costs. Everyone associated with our sanctuary is considered a volunteer. We have a board of directors consisting of three members that meet quarterly to provide direction and focus to the Sanctuary.
Our rescued horses usually require extensive care. With new rescues arriving often, our costs of care are growing. Currently our cost for food alone has reached approximately $5,000 per month. Veterinary costs and farrier costs can be expensive and vary depending on the condition and needs of each horse.
In order to raise funds and find sponsorships for the horses we participate in public outreach through parades, adoption days, and equestrian events. These spread the word about our organization and better socialize the horses. We also open our doors to visitors, volunteers and potential adopters in hopes of finding loving homes for some of our wonderful animals. 100% of our donations go to the minis.
Additionally, we continuously strive to ensure that we are listed among other high quality, top-tier rescue organizations. We are an accredited member of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. Recognition by GFAS is the most prestigious award given to animal sanctuaries globally.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
So Cal Mini has continued to meet the goal of finding life-long loving homes for our horses. As we rescue horses from kill lots, back yard breeders, auctions, and owner surrenders the cycle of rehabilitating and rehoming them begins again.
We choose not to rehome horses before they are fully recovered from their traumatic life experiences. We spend time socializing and caring for them to ensure that they have all the tools they need to transition into new homes before making them available for adoption. These methods help to ensure that both the horses and their new families are happy together.
We have highly capable and committed board members and volunteers that give their time to this cause, are dedicated to our fundraising efforts, and help train and socialize the rescued minis in hopes that they one day are adopted. We also host training seminars from locally and nationally known trainers.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
So Cal Mini has accomplished quite a lot since receiving our non-profit 501(c)3 status. The rescue of over 140 mini horses is something we are very proud of. The re homing of 104 (as of 2017) horses is also something that we feel is notable.
We continue to rescue and rehabilitate and celebrate each adoption. We strive to find families for each horse, this may take many months or even years, but we will not adopt a mini that is not ready. Many of those still with us are in the rehabilitation stage of their transition and it may be some time before they are prepared to leave the sanctuary.
