Mission Statement

To achieve this vision, Arts Partners’ goal is to provide arts learning experiences that lead to young people who: think creatively and make connections between the arts and other areas of learning; engage in creative exploration, critical thinking and problem-solving; understand and use artistic skills and techniques; and work collaboratively and have an appreciation and respect for other cultures
Using the arts for learning is quite simply giving students the chance to reach a higher level of understanding by doing, by being involved in the process of learning.

Program 1

We partner with Wichita's arts and cultural organizations (23 organizations, plus Wichita State University, Newman University, Friends University and Butler Community College) and more than 30 professional teaching artists to develop arts programs that introduce students to the visual, literary, and performing arts while reinforcing learning in other areas of the curriculum, including reading, writing, math, social studies, and science. The partnership includes representatives of school districts, community artists, arts and cultural organizations, and funders. Our programs reach more than 60,000 students and teachers in more than 120 area schools, out-of-school programs and early childhood centers.

Principal Officer

Ms. Katie Lynn

BIO

Katie Lynn joined the staff of Arts Partners as Executive Director in the fall of 2002. Her love of performing arts began in the third grade with her love of the visual arts taking hold even earlier. Although Katie was the recipient of a Scholastic Art Award at the age of 15, and later received a BA degree in communications with an emphasis on television, radio, film and theatre arts, she was drawn to community service. Katie is a past president of the boards of the Junior League of Wichita, Communities In Schools, and the Sedgwick County Family and Youth Commission. Her other board service includes the Association of Junior Leagues International and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Wichita. She was elected to serve two terms as a member of the city council of Eastborough and was involved with Leadership Wichita, first as a participant and then as a presenter for several years.

Katie has provided training on nonprofit board management and development and leadership development to several local and national organizations, including a presentation at a Young Audiences national conference. She serves as Regional Director of Kansas Wolf Trap, one of only sixteen programs of Wolf Trap Early Learning Through the Arts in the country. In 2006, Katie was selected to be a presenter at the Arts Education Partnership Forum, Partnering with Higher Education: Profiling What is Possible, because Arts Partners is a strong model where the arts organization is the nexus for the relationship between and among higher education and K-12 schools. She also serves on the national board of Young Audiences Arts for Learning and is the chair of the Young Audiences Executive Directors Council, which supports the 30 affiliates across the country.
