Mission Statement

The purpose of the MidAmerica Pastel Society is to bring together practicing pastel artists as a group to network, to educate and promote community interest and support for the medium of pastel in the visual arts, to support these pastel artists in their artistic development, exhibit work as a group and individually; to provide teaching workshops for further development of artists using pastel and to make a contribution to the community through the development of student artists in the pastel medium.

National Pastel Exhibition

The MidAmerica Pastel Society sponsors a bi-annual pastel art juried competition/exhibition.  It is open to all artists working in the soft pastel medium. The 2010 Pastel Exhibition will be held at the Irene B. French Gallery in Merriam, Kansas August 26th to September 25th, 2010.  This competition provides artists working in the pastel medium an exhibition forum, promotes visual arts in the Kansas City metro area and offers visitors and local residents an artistic cultural experience.
