Mission Statement

The mission of the SMSA is to provide financial assistance in the form of
scholarships to our most deserving children and grandchildren of military service members who are serving or have served with the Seabees.  Our scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement, leadership in their
interests and economic need. With members of the Seabee Battalions deployed around the globe supporting combat, disaster recovery and humanitarian assistance missions we strive to relieve some of the stress on these families.  By providing financial assistance to their children we are helping the family as well as the student and assisting these young adults to make a better future for themselves.

Charting Impact

Self-reported by organization

Five powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

  1. What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal for the next five years is to increase both the number and amount of scholarship grants.
  2. What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Primarily to increase the value of our endowment by raising 7 Million dollars over the next five years.
  3. What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a dedicated volunteer board of leaders from the military and industry. Our staff is experienced and qualified to reach this goal.
  4. How will they know if they are making progress?
We gauge progress to our goal regularly. Each year the border determines the number and amount of scholarships. We gauge success as an increase in both.
  5. What have and haven't they accomplished so far?
Increase the value of scholarships each year for five years.
