Living American Flag (Community and School Programs) and Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance Flag Day Program

Living American Flag - A Flag education partnership with elementary schools, also utilizing our Education Resource Handbooks, culminating in May with a half day school event with awards for a patriotism essay contest, a War of 1812 presentation, and an outside filling of a flag grid by the students to create a "Living American Flag" photographed from the air for framing. The Orioles organization is also a partner with onfield recognition for the essay contest finalists and recipients of the Baton of Patriotism. Three schools are selected annually.
Pause for the Pledge of Allegiance - An annual event, a traditional program and 7 p.m. "pause" to recite the Pledge of Allegiance on Flag Day, June 14th as signed into law June 1985 by President Ronald Reagan, open to the public and free admittance, held at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine.
