Mission Statement

For almost 30 years, EarthShare has supported nearly 600 of America's most respected environmental and conservation organizations through the original crowdfunding – workplace giving. Today EarthShare is a strategic advisor and programmatic partner to the business sector, executing dynamic engagement and philanthropy programs focused on creating the tangible impact needed to ensure a flourishing future.

EarthShare is America's oldest and largest environmental and conservation federation. Throughout its history, EarthShare has built bridges between causes and business by offering effective ways to understand and support critical environmental programs. Thanks to its supporters and partners, EarthShare has raised more than $300 million for programs that care for our air, land, water, wildlife and health -- in our communities, across the U.S. and around the world.

Each year EarthShare connects hundreds of thousands of individuals with its member organizations through EarthShare @ Work, an employee engagement and philanthropy program offered at hundreds of public and private sector workplaces across the country.

Impact statement

The EarthShare network (www.earthshare.org) delivered $11.5 million in funding to America’s most respected and responsible environmental and conservation charities in 2012. The nationwide EarthShare network currently supports the work of more than 500 state-based, national and international U.S. charities, and partners with them through the EarthShare@Work program. EarthShare@Work engages tens of thousands of workplace donors each year in philanthropic activities supporting programs that protect public health and our air, land, water and wildlife. EarthShare’s overhead remains one of the lowest in its industry and 100% of designated gifts go directly to its benefiting member charities. Unlike other organizations, EarthShare also shares out all undesignated general funds with its membership as well.

In 2012 EarthShare won a bid to manage the world’s largest workplace giving campaign, the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) of the National Capital area, which in 2014 raised more than $49 million from the federal and military workforce to benefit thousands of nonprofit causes across the country. In 2012 EarthShare also won workplace campaign fiscal management contracts for the CFC for New York City; the State of Georgia campaign; and the cities of Austin, TX and Raleigh, NC. EarthShare also expanded its geographical reach and increased its ability to raise critical regional funding by launching new state Chapters, including EarthShare Mid-Atlantic, Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

EarthShare has earned the Better Business Bureau’s Wise Giving Alliance Seal for six consecutive years, an achievement attained by less than 5 percent of the charities rated.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE FOR FISCAL YEAR

Ms. Meri-Margaret Deoudes

BIO

Ms. Deoudes joined EarthShare's national staff in March 2016. Previously the Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Cause Marketing and Corporate Relations for the March of Dimes, her innovative approach and leadership drove the effort to review and redefine the organization's cause platform through holistic, data-driven approaches and the creation of new national sponsor and programmatic funding opportunities. While there she directed the creation and implementation of overall strategy for corporate revenue, including cause marketing, sponsorship, employee engagement, program support, and promotions at the national, regional and local level.

Prior to that, Ms. Deoudes led Corporate Relations and Special Events at National Wildlife Federation (NWF), an EarthShare member organization. There she created strategic alliances with private sector partners through events and activities aimed at making outdoor play a priority and encouraging the next generation of environmental stewards. Ms. Deoudes led the Corporate Relations, Special Events and the Be Out There initiative. Prior to joining NWF, Deoudes was part of the national campaign team at Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, developing corporate partnerships and consulting with chapter staff on special events. She started her career working in the D.C. market at March of Dimes and National Kidney Foundation.

Ms. Deoudes succeeds EarthShare's interim CEO, Deb Furry, who will resume her role on the EarthShare national board of directors.
