Mission Statement

Matthew's Center is the only program in the Northern Virginia area that specifically addresses the needs of children with autism and their families. Through our in-home parent training, respite care and direct instruction we are able to help ensure the teaching strategies used at school are carried over to the home environment. We also recognize that autism affects the entire family not just the child. We listen to the parents needs and concerns and do what we can to meet those needs.

Program 1

Matthew's Center contracts with 18 different counties to provide educational and therapeutic services to children within their jurisdiction who have autism or related disabilities. We serve 24 students ages 5-21 in our center based day school program and are currently at capacity. We have recently opened a pre-school program within the day school facility for 6 children ages 2-4. We provide over 1,400 hours per month of in-home services including parent training, respite care and direct instruction with the student. We will be opening an after-school care program in September of 2006 for children with autism or related disabilities who cannot attend traditional after-school programs. Currently there are no programs in Prince William County and surrounding areas that will accept children with behavioral problems consistent with autism.
