Mission Statement

The NCSF and NCSF Foundation are committed to creating a political, legal and social environment in the US that advances equal rights for consenting adults who engage in alternative sexual and relationship expressions. The NCSF and NCSF Foundation aim to advance the rights of, and advocate for consenting adults in the BDSM-Leather-Fetish, Swing, and Polyamory Communities. We pursue our vision through direct services, education, advocacy, and outreach, in conjunction with our partners, to directly benefit these communities.

Program 1

We sponsor the periodic Building Bridges conferences, which brings together scholars, leaders and lay persons from all forms of nontraditional relationships to exchange views, learn from each other, and build community. We administer the Educational Outreach Program started by NCSF to reach out to law enforcement and legal authorities, as well as constituents. We conduct outreach to scientific and research organizations through presentations and exhibits.

Mr. James Fleckenstein

BIO

Mr. Fleckenstein is a founding Board member of the Institute, and, as President and CEO, has complete responsibility for its day-to-day operations. He has over 27 years' experience in managing charitable and membership nonprofit organizations. His expertise has benefited more than 40 nonprofits through his service as chief executive, staff member, volunteer leader, speaker, writer, consultant, or instructor. In 8 years as chief fund raising officer for a national charitable organization, he brought in more than $19 million, tripling revenue in his first year. He has worked in the areas of government relations, membership development, meeting and conference management, professional education, publications, marketing, public relations, board and volunteer development, chapter relations, and finance and administration. Mr. Fleckenstein has taught in the continuing education programs of the George Washington University, the University of Maryland, and Northern Virginia Community College. He has served as a spokesperson on radio and television, and also produced and hosted his own cable television talk show for over two years. He holds a Bachelor?s degree with honors in Mass Communications/Politics and Public Affairs (double major) from the University of Miami, and a Certificate in Association Management from the University of Maryland. He is presently enrolled in the Master of Public Health degree program of the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco, CA. He is a member of the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality.
