Mission Statement

St. Catherine's School, a Church School in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. Mission - St. Catherine's School provides a rigorous education that prepares girls with diverse perspectives for a lifetime of learning, leadership and service in a global community.Our core values are: Pursuing academic excellence: We cultivate intellectual habits in which we take joy in learning through energetic inquiry, analytical and creative thinking, and continual striving to reach new levels. Developing character: We teach individuals to live with integrity, responsibility, confidence, compassion and respect for themselves and others. Nurturing spiritual growth: We enable each person to deepen her faith through worship, reflection, humility and the recognition of God in every human being. Celebrating individuals: We recognize the unique gifts and potential of each person and help each to recognize the strength that comes from differences. Recent accomplishments:(1) St. Catherine's School opened a new state of the art science center, including an independent research laboratory.(2) Our enrollment has grown to more than 950 girls, the largest in our history.(3) The School completed the most successful capital campaign in tis history in November 2013, raising more than $40 million for capital, endowment and annual giving. Goals:(1) St. Catherine's will continue to provide the best possible education for students in our care, to attract a talented and diverse student body, and to be a national leader in the education of girls and young women. (2) St. Catherine's has completed a thoughtful and inclusive process to develop a new strategic plan for the School.(3) Develop a comprehensive plan for a new visual and performing arts center

BIO

In the fall of 2011, St. Catherine's School completed an intensive search for our a new Head of School. Dr. Terrie Hale Scheckelhoff became our eleventh Head of School on July 1, 2012. Dr. Scheckelhoff served for 32 years at the Columbus (Ohio) School for Girls. She began as a teacher, served as Director of Admission and Financial Aid for 17 years and served as Associate Head of School from 2000 to 2012. Dr. Scheckelhoff graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a B.S. in Elementary Education, earned an M.A. in Education Administration and an M.B.A. from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Education Studies: Educational Leadership and Higher Education from the University of Nebraska.
