TO DEVELOP, ENCOURAGE, AND PROMOTE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF AND APPRECIATION FOR NORTH CAROLINA'S COASTAL NATURAL AND CULTURAL HERITAGE; TO SERVE AS A PHILANTHROPIC SOCIETY FOR THE SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE OF PROGRAMS, AND DEVELOPMENT OF FACILITIES OF THE NORTH CAROLINA ACQUARIUMS, AND TO SOLICIT, HOLD, INVEST, AND EXPEND FUNDS FOR SUCH PURPOSES; AND TO RENDER ASSISTANCE AS REQUESTED BY THE NORTH CAROLINA ACQUARIUMS.

The Aquarium Society's efforts are focused on the successful launching of Jennette's Pier at Nags Head (and capital campaign to support it), implementation of a master point of sale computer system for the Aquariums and Pier, continued support of the three Aquariums and their programs and projects, and the continued service of core Society functions like retail operations, membership services, and concessions.

Membership

The Aquarium Society currently has more than 60,000 members across North Carolina and the nation. Members receive free admission at the Aquariums and a number of other benefits. The Aquarium Society participates in the AZA's reciprocal agreement, allowing members free or discounted admission at over 150 other zoos and aquariums around the country.
