Program 1

The Durham County Library, which the Foundation supports, circulated more than 1.4 million items in 2006-07 and offered 2,834 programs attended by 67,146 adults and children. Programs include: Harry and the Potters (literature based indie rock), children's story times, Mainly for Teens, computer classes, summer reading programs, etc. The library offers the community free access to books, videos, books and music on tape and CD, software, etc. Each branch offers public access Internet computers, word processing and electronic resources. The Main Library houses the NC Collection, business and nonprofit collections and Project LIFT, which has resources for job seekers, students and career changers. Outreach services include Bookmobile visits to preschools, neighborhoods and shopping centers. OASIS provides library services to shut-in individuals and rest homes.
