Funding Needs

The most pressing need of the YVCG at this time is funding for a full-time paid executive director to include duties of social media and marketing, and for support of the physical store.  The Guild expects the new e-commerce site will help support expenses of the the downtown store.  More opportunity for artists will grow membership, increase the good experiences of tourists and encourage students to take up craft education to perserve techniques of heritage craft.  With the distribution venues underway and growth at a solid rate, a Craft Education Center can be created and supported by artists in the Yadkin Valeey.

STATEMENT FROM THE Principal Officer

"Craft is established in the mountains of North Carolina and attracts tourists, artisans and students from all over the country.  At the foothills of the mountains, industrial craftsmen in trades of furniture and textiles and certain farm families have had to adapt to changing economics.  The region is now known for award-winning wineries.  Tourism is growing. Teaching new skills to workers already connected to design fields to prepare them for entrepreneurships or supplementing new occupations can help the growing tourism trade.  Bringing incomes into the region by supporting the tourism efforts brings a better quality of life to people living in an already beautiful environment and preserves the cultural heritage already in the area."
