Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
1. Our main goal is to provide funding for teachers so that they can purchase needed supplies, equipment and programs that will help facilitate learning.
2. Our secondary goal is to help the Fayette County Public School System as a whole by providing funds to support the operation of programs that serve students across the county and at all grade levels.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We offer several opportunities throughout the year for teachers to apply for grants to obtain funding for needs in their classrooms.
We also meet with county-level administrators to have discussions about where the needs are across the school system and how the Foundation can help address those needs.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have a yearly employee giving campaign to raise donations to support funding grants.
We have also partnered with United Way so that employees can make a direct donation do the Foundation during the annual United Way employee campaign.
Additionally, we apply for grants to help us fund our various grant programs, and we also educate the local business community about our mission and goals to get their financial support.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have been able to significantly grow our employee funding base. One success for us has been giving new teachers gift cards at the beginning of the school year so that they can purchase last minute supplies for their classrooms. Along with the card is an invitation to sign up to donate to the Foundation through payroll deduction. We make the presentation at New Teacher Induction where we talk about our mission and goals and encourage the new teachers to apply for grants.
We will continue to market to new teachers each year, as well as increase the number of community grants for which we apply. We have been fortunate to receive two grants from the Heritage Bank Foundation, and we are currently researching other grant opportunities that fit our organization.
