Mission Statement

The Garden Hills Elementary School (GHES) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an all volunteer based organization whose goal is to foster a partnership between the school and its families to enhance the educational experience and enrichment programs provided for our students. Comprised of parents and staff, the PTA acts as a powerful voice advocating for quality education, and working to provide a nurturing and open minded school environment whereby students can maximize learning. GHES PTA upholds and embraces the core beliefs and purposes of the Georgia PTA. PTA membership is open to all and volunteers are always needed and welcome. Through the generosity of its members and the community, the GHES PTA positively impacts every child's experience at our school.

Garden Hills Elementary PTA

The Garden Hills Elementary School (GHES) Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is an all volunteer based organization whose goal is to foster a partnership between the school and its families to enhance the educational experience and enrichment programs provided for our students.

Comprised of parents and staff, the PTA acts as a powerful voice advocating for quality education, and working to provide a nurturing and open minded school environment whereby students can maximize learning. GHES PTA upholds and embraces the core beliefs and purposes of the Georgia PTA. PTA membership is open to all and volunteers are always needed and welcome. Through the generosity of its members and the community, the GHES PTA positively impacts every child's experience at our school.

The mission of the Garden Hills Elementary PTA is to:
encourage parents involvement in the school, liase between the parents and teachers which fosters communication among all groups and enhances programs assist in developing the skills needed to raise and protect GHES students, serve as a liason between the spanish and english-speaking populations to increase involvement across all groups.

The PTA actively serves the students of Garden Hills Elementary School in a variety of ways. We fund enrichment programs such as High Touch, High Tech, Shakespeare Program, partnering with Woodruff Arts, provide scholarships for after-school enrichment activities such as drama, martial arts, creative learning. The PTA funds awards for the International Baccalaureate program, reading initiatives, and community building events like the Fall Carnival, International Festival and Movie nights. We organize volunteers for the many committees that enrich the school and and increase safety, such as funding mulch for the playground. Without our amazing teachers, our children would not be able to obtain the extraordinary education they deserve, and the PTA recognizes these teachers with appreciation weeks, breakfasts and otherwise recognizing outstanding teachers.

National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement - Building Successful Partnerships (BSP) Parent and family involvement increases student achievement and success. BSP is a multifaceted initiative that focuses on increasing the awareness and implementation of the National Standards for Parent/Family involvement. There are trained BSP facilitators who are available to present workshops and presentations.Parent Involvement School of Excellence Certification ProgramExcellent Schools Don't Just Happen -- THEY'RE CREATED! A new program established by National PTA to help every school evaluate its own parent involvement practices and make improvements where needed.ReflectionsThe Reflections was established in 1969 by National PTA board member Mary Lou Anderson. The Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program. Students in PTA schools in preschool through grade 12 participate in the arts areas of literature, musical compositions, photography and visual arts. This program provides a venue for students to create and be recognized for original works of art based on a preselected theme, while increasing community awareness of the importance of arts in education.
