The Friends' fundraisers

The Friends exist to support and benefit a single entity: The Leon County Public Library. To do so the Friends conduct several various annual fundraising activities, projects and events. The two primary fundraising events are the Author Event and the Title Wave. The Author Event brings a nationally known best-selling author to town for a cocktail reception with sponsors, and for all ticket purchasers, a talk with Q&A, and book signing with attendees. The Title Wave Used Book Sale is a 3-day sale that offers used books, DVDs, videos and other materials for sale to the public. All monies raised support special Library projects, programs, equipment and books.

Funding Needs

1. Maximize monetary donations to The Friends.2 Recruit new volunteers from all parts of the community.3. Develop new fundraisers. Both the Author Event and Title Wave Used Book Sale are not bringing in the revenue they have in the past. Subcontract/hire a professional fund development advisor to help develop new events and possibly reorganize the current ones for a limited time.2. Increase community awareness of The Friends and its mission. Develop a PR campaign to tell the community about The Friends, the main Library and its branches. Many people use the Library but are unaware of the impact The Friends' donations make to the Library system. Subcontract/hire a professional to implement the PR campaign.
