Mission Statement

1. To function as a support group and association to Dade Battlefield Historic State Park in accordance with Florida Administrative Code S16D-2.01

2. To assist the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection with the preservation and conservation of the site and property which include the structures, grounds and recreational facilities.

3. To increase public awareness of Dade Battlefield and local heritage found at this site, through docent programs, social functions, and educational activities, recretional activities, festivals, etc.

BIO

Have taught in Pasco Co since 1979 following death of husband Dal J. Myers who was a Florida park ranger. Lived at various Florida parks the last one Dade Battlefield (1978-79)Began teaching at Zephyrhills jr. high and moved to Zephyrhills High school 1984. Am currently serving on the board of the Florida Historical Society and am the department head for social studies at ZHS -- teach American History and Florida History. Won teacher of the year award for my highschool in 2003. Won Pasco County High School Social Studies Teacher of the year in 2003 and the Frederick Cubberly Award for High School Social Studies Teacher in 1992. Belong to the Florida Council of the Social Studies and have made numerous presentations at FCSS conventions. Also have presented and am a member of the Florida Conference of Historians. Have been involved in the DBS and volunteered at the reenactment since 1985 and have attended every ceremony accept 1993 --- on the Battlefield since 1979.
