The Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County, Inc. is an organization of citizens who share a passionate comitment for a strong library system The Friends of the Library work to expand the network of libraries, strengthen the library collections and support a varied menu of programs for citizens of the community.

22 Friends of the Library Chapters provide literacy-related program and library support to 27 branch library facilities throughout Hillsborough County. The $253,000 spent on Program Services in 2012 helped the library produce 6882 programs for ages 0-18 with attendance of 189,000 and an additional 4955 adult programs with attendance of 46,800. The Friends of the Library provide significant additional financial support to special projects including purchase of furniture and artworks, maintenance of the Burgert Brothers Photography Collection, celebration of the upcoming 100th Anniversary of the Library and the promotion of Early and Digital Literacy.
