How does this organization make a difference?

Overview

Self-reported by organization

The management and board have been changed to better serve the House. In the last year we have begun our first extensive program of temporary exhibits. We have added an events/marketing specialist to our staff.

Our near-term goals are to make the organization more functional and exhiting. Our staff and board are working exhaustively on fund raising for the House, primarily to pay for much-needed repairs.  We are also working to create a comprehensive strategic plan that covers education, funding, branding, marketing, the mechanical systems and energy conservation, and ongoing maintenance, operations and staffing issues.

Funding Needs

We are seeking funding in several areas: repairs to the House from paint and paper to structural repairs to the roof, floors and walls. Funding is also needed to adequately staff the House, to have professional personnel implementing new programming and educational and community outreach. Within the next year, we are planning a capital campaign to fund large-scale projects, including a geothermal system, installing low-e and UV protective glass panels on all the windows on the House, and remodelling the West Wing to provide office, exhibit and better reception space for rental events.
