Program 1

Our mission is to provide the community with the ability to access the Internet, learn and develop new technology, design creative media and share technical experiences in a comfortable environment. Our goal is not only be a resource for learning but a place to meet and share your technical and creative endeavors with others. We have imaginative programs that appeal to the novice and the expert. Our volunteers have real world experience that they can share with individuals that visit our center. We strongly believe that this organization will bring family, friends and youths together for a positive experience. We plan to establish an internet access portal for the people of the community to access the internet in one location. Writers are welcome to visit our center where they will have access to professional publishing tools. They will have the ability to create (or write) books, articles, make photo collages and create music CDs. Our program consists of tools that allow individuals to develop technology from robotics to database applications. One of our exciting programs is our media development work center that will allow users to create and edit movies using DVD as the output method. Our media development applications let the users do fun, creative things with their pictures, music and movies in ways that PC users can only dream about. Although there are a number of computer owners, few have the ability to create applications and distributed media. We will work with software vendors and other resources to schedule SME (subject matter experts) to provide training. We will work with the technology community to solicit them to come in and mentor individuals that are using our services. Our goal is to contact user groups and other non-profit organization to find technical personnel that are willing to share their time with people that visit our center.

BIO

Cheryl Adams is the founder of The Basics Central Inc. The concept for this organization has evolved over time and she has found a method to effectively bring the technical forum to the community. Her primary goal is to bring an audience that is normally not exposed to technology on a regular basis. She has spent time volunteering with Junior Achievement where she saw first hand the lack of technical exposure in the East Bay. She is a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a BA in Information Systems and Management. She has received several technical certificates for various fields of study. She has held positions as a manager as well as instructor in the field of technology. In the non-profit arena she has spent time helping adults and children learn about technology and building their own computers.

STATEMENT FROM THE Principal Officer

"It is my hope to provide this access to everyone who is interested and has a desire to learn more about this ever changing landscape."
