Overview

Self-reported by organization

Our vision is to to make a significant impact within our community through education, research and philanthropy. We continually support the Chemo Snack Cart utilized by patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment at Lexington Clinic and provide financial assistance to patients unable to afford their chemo prescriptions. In 2011 we awarded Fergus Hanson Memorial Scholarships to 11 Kentucky Allied Health students. Recipients will work in Central or Eastern Kentucky and displayed high academic achievement, good character, and community involvement. In 2010, we made 24 awards. We also awarded grants to local, health-related charities who are meeting medical needs in Kentucky. LCF funding has enabled local organizations to: - Provide nearly 3,000 children with asthma medications - Teach child abuse recognition courses to local medical professionals - Offer eye exams, glasses and dental care to hundreds of needy people in our community - Assist in the building effort of a dining hall at a camp for children with chronic illnesses and physical difficulties and, - Educate elderly patients on fall prevention.Grant proposals from local, community organizations are due in mid-August of each year; awards will be made by late October.
