Overview

Self-reported by organization

The 3rd "Ready for School Rally" Classroom Grants program kicked off the 2014-15 school year with a bang including 225 energized teachers, a marching band and community leaders presenting checks to hard working educators through the Ca$h for Cla$$room grants program. In all, over $110,000 were distributed through the foundation's main giving initiative - direct from the private sector into the hands of the deserving teachers who were able to now fund projects in their classrooms. The Heart & Soul Art Program in the high schools is a multi-faceted event in the arts curriculum which culminates with the Heart & Soul Gala and Live Art Auction in January. Students who are chosen for the prestigious program donate their artwork to the foundation to be auctioned at the gala. Proceeds from the event are given to the art departments and also help to fund art programs at the elementary and middle school levels. The 2015 Heart and Soul Program was the most successful to date helping raise much needed funds for High school Fine-Arts programs.

This year's Gala is going to be the largest and most impressive yet. Sponsors who appreciate the talents of student artists are needed for this elegant and heartwarming evening where students learn to showcase and sell their art in the market place. It is always a reassuring experience when an individual gives of their time to help the cause you so firmly believe in. Volunteers are always needed to help with MEF programs and events. The MEF looks to the community to ready and evaluate teacher grants, scholarship applications, to serve on the Marketing and Heart & Soul committees. The School District of Manatee County always need volunteers and we can find an opportunity for anyone to help the schools. This year, the Manatee Education Foundation will take responsibility for the EdVantage Education Awards which celebrates the Educator of the Year and Support Person of the Year for the district. Sponsors are needed for this event.
