Sacramento Valley Historical Railways is a fellowship of volunteers who are dedicated to community service and education through the preservation and operation of historic railroad equipment and structures in the Sacramento Valley.

Our organization has increased its community outreach and networking efforts.  As a result, membership and communtiy visibilty have increased.

 
SVHR volunteers have nearly completed the restoration of the Woodland Southern Pacific Depot which was built in 1911.  Work continues on historically restoring the restrooms and making the depot site more accessable to the public.  Phase 1 of the site improvement project was completed last year with the removal of the grainery foundations.

Program 1

Historic Woodland Train Depot Restoration

This is a multi-phased project to restore an historic community asset in a redevelopment district for public use as a railroad history museum and event and meeting venue. It will promote local historical tourism and attract visitors to the historic downtown district.
Phase 1: Prevent demolition by relocating structure to property owned by the Sacramento Valley Historical Railways (Completed). Phase 2: Repair, restore and paint the exterior of the building (Completed). Phase 3: Restore baggage room and office (Completed). Phase 4: Install water, sewer, and gas lines to and in the building, restore restrooms historically and to meet ADA compliance (In progress). Phase 5: Install ADA compliant parking and additional walkways (Future project). Phase 6: Install HVAC systems (Future Project).
