Mission Statement

Science fiction and fantasy fans organize conventions where fans can meet and discuss the art and literature of science fiction and fantasy. SFSFC was originally organized to bid for and when selected, host the 1993 World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon), and later went on to host the 2002 Worldcon, the 1999 and 2009 World Fantasy Conferences, and the 2000 West Coast Science Fantasy Convention (Westercon). SFSFC makes grants available to various charitable and cultural organizations with science fiction and fantasy elements, and is currently organizing conferences to help educate volunteer convention runners how to more effectively run SF conventions.
