Program 1

Le Comite's primary operating programs consist of donating materials to the Louisiana State Archives, providing volunteers to assist in the Research Room, publishing genealogical and historical information, and holding seminars. Types of genealogical and historical materials donated include microfilm, books, original records, and photocopies, primarily with a Louisiana genealogical connection. Most items are purchased by the organization, while others are donated by individuals through the organization. Types of assistance provided by volunteers include assisting patrons in the Research Room, inventorying collections, abstracting records, translating documents, and indexing. The organization publishes genealogical and historical books, and three times a year, it publishes a periodical, called le Raconteur, containing genealogical and historical abstracts, indexes, articles, and news and information about the Louisiana State Archives. Finally, the organization provides speakers who hold informational seminars around the state on conducting research at the Louisiana State Archives.
