Principal Officer

Ann Fumarolo

STATEMENT FROM THE Principal Officer

"There is a heart beating at the center of all the machines and technology at Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center in Shreveport, and her name is Ann Fumarolo. She says, "I think I was meant to come here. I had decided that when my son went to college, that I wanted an adventure." That adventure brought Ann from Fort Wayne, Indiana to the Arklatex - and to Sci-Port, where she is the President and CEO. Ann has a passion for science, and that passion helps fuel her vision for Sci-Port. Ann spoke about her vision saying, "My passion is that a science center is really a community-drawing place. You think of Sci-Port, and you think of little kids, but it really needs to be a community gathering place." In the end, Ann says the job is about changing lives. "Just knowing that we touched just one or two kids. If we can really get them excited about what they want to do in life - that they never thought they could do - I think that's what I have a great passion for... I do feel like I am making a difference, and I feel like I'm making a difference in places you would never think of.""
