Scholarships

One of the most frustrating situations that
university educators encounter is to see bright students who are progressing in
their course of study have to leave the university for financial reasons.  The likelihood of completing a degree
decreases significantly when a student leaves college, even if they have every
intention to return.   To help alleviate
the financial pressures that cause students to leave, Southeastern offers
progression scholarships that reward progress toward graduation in an
appropriate time frame.  However,
eligibility for many scholarship programs, from Louisiana’s TOPS to athletic
scholarships, ends after four years, even though many students today take five
to six years to complete their degrees.  To
support those students, Southeastern has created completer scholarships for
students who need an extra boost to ensure completion of their degrees. These
are students who are continuing to make progress and meet the university’s GPA requirements
but are in danger of leaving due to financial need.  With continued funding for these
scholarships, Southeastern can pledge to its students that we will be with them
every step of the way until they complete their degrees.
